If you love mushrooms like we do, then this simple dish of mushrooms with caramelised onions will make your stomach that much happier. This dish will go well on its own or as a complement to tartines, sandwiches and steaks. In fact we used this dish as a topping recently on our home-made burgers. Serves 3 to 4
- 200g brown/button mushrooms, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 tsp sugar
- salt and pepper to taste
- Melt the butter in a pan on medium-low heat. Add the onions. Cook for about 10 minutes, then add the sugar and cook for a further 10 minutes till the onions are caramelised.
- Add the mushrooms and cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add salt and pepper to taste and serve.
